Country to face gas crisis for few days

Sea depression makes disruption in LNG supply

The country will face a continued gas crisis in supply in the next few days, which already started on Sunday, due mainly to a storm in the Bay of Bengal.

Authorities said it might continue for the next couple of days as the ships carrying imported gas remained stuck in the sea amid the weather depression.

“In fact, we do not know how much will be the supply deficit with the rolling of time,” Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Managing Director Ali Iqbal Md Nurullah said.

However, household and power stations would be given priority for the gas supply, he told the Business Insider Bangladesh.

“Gas pressure will be so low, as below 400 million cubic feet LNG will be supplied to the distribution line, instead of the regular 800 million cubic feet,” Nurullah added.

The meteorological department, meanwhile, hoisted signal-3 for the seashore and hinted that it might continue for the next three days.
