Power, energy sector gets 2.71% bigger allocation

The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources got Tk 27,484 crore allocation for the 2021-22 fiscal year, which is Tk 726 crore higher than the previous year.

Within this amount, the Power Division got Tk 25,398 crore, while the Energy Division got the rest Tk 2,086 crore.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal came up with the proposal while placing national budget for the FY22 before the parliament on Thursday.

The transmission and distribution segment has been prioritised in the budget proposal. Some 28,000-circuit km of transmission line and 6.6 lakh km distribution lines will be installed by 2030.

For the energy sector, liquified natural gas (LNG) gets importance over the exploration of indigenous resources.
